Part of the reason I was having so much trouble getting Django to play nicely on Dreamhost was because the web server they had assigned to me was having load averages over 200. I notified them because I thought it was another user with a poorly written script sucking up all the CPU time. They replied back in under an hour saying that there was an NFS issue and that it has been fixed it. The next day it came back so I sent them another message. They offered to move my web server to one handpicked to have low load averages. Now all my sites are nice and speedy!
